The Starwind Sector

A 200-light-year sprawl of asteroid belts, rogue planets, agricultural orbital platforms, and gleaming corporate arcologies. Settled during the Second Expansion (2270–2320), it has grown into three regions, each with its own character, economy, and unwritten rules.

"There are no navies, only corporate security and the reputation that keeps deals honest."
The Core Worlds

The seat of power. The Core Worlds Authority runs the Interstellar Commerce Exchange from Nexus Core and polices the inner systems with security drones. Order is absolute; fines are non-negotiable. The wealthy elite consume luxury imports and complain about frontier produce — many have never seen a mining rig.

The Inner Systems

The agricultural belt. The Halcyon Agri-Guild controls 60% of fresh food production, 80% of seed patents, and nearly 100% of the fertiliser supply chain. Four Guild stations form a verdant crescent across the sector's habitable zone, keeping the colonies fed — and the Guild wealthy.

The Outer Rim

Frontier territory. Independent miners, scavengers, and prospectors work the debris fields, ice sheets, and asteroid belts. The Frontier Miners Union runs the claim registry; the Free Captains Council operates the free ports — where no questions are asked and no taxes are collected.

Timeline

A handful of the events that shaped the sector. The codex you build in-game runs far deeper.

2264Battle of Tharsis Gap. The dreadnought ISS Indomitable is crippled and scuttled. Her hulk drifts for decades before becoming Rustport.
2281Nexus Core completed. The Interstellar Commerce Exchange goes online. Every trade route now flows through Core data-centres.
2287Astraea Disaster. A moon collapses under a rogue comet's pull, scattering billions of tonnes of mineral-rich rock across the Outer Rim. The claim rush begins.
2315Wayfarer decommissioned. Mael Kovac buys the listening post at auction and converts it into the sector's only true free port.
2332Nullgate begins. Official brief: "deep-space propulsion research." Unofficial: reverse-engineering technology recovered from an uncharted derelict.
"Keep your fuel above zero and your reputation above -30."
